Long Time No Post

It's been a while since my last post, just been a tad busy with other things. Here are some photos from recent trips to Atlanta and Whistler.

This was the view from our room at the Westin. My aunt was able to hook us up with a suite deal.

Picture on Blackcomb. I still suck ass at boarding.

You probably can't tell from this blurry picture, but nightlife was bustling, though I don't know if that's necessarily a good thing.   I'm a horrible dancer myself, but I haven't seen so many terrible dancers in my life. Who knew the Roger Rabbit and the Cabbage Patch were still fashionable in Canada? Crap. hope that didn't age me.

When I was in Atlanta, I was given a per diem. I rarely ate breakfast and ate small lunch, so that allowed me to splurge for dinner. I went to citysearch and looked up all the best restaurants in the area. One that I found was Pappadeaux, a well known chain in the south. I had the most delicious meal there.

Fried Alligator. Like with most strange meats, it tasted like chicken.

WOW. Best soup I've ever had. Crawfish Creamy-Style Bisque. The fish chunks were soft and tender, the soup rich and buttery, and it was combined with just the perfect hint of spice. The soup melted in my mouth.

Shrimp Etouffee. Again, very tasty, it's a gumbo-like dish that is super popular in the South.  Unlike gumbo it's more spicy, and has a strong color due to the cayenne peppers and, this case, tomatoes.  It's a roux based braised dish. Super tasty, but overshadowed by the bisque.

On a related note, go to Flying Fish and try their crab cakes and ahi steak. It's part of their 25 for $25. The 31st is their last day for the special, so check it out if you have the chance.
